Best Tool Box Reviews

In this article we review, what we think to be the best tool boxes, that are currently available in the UK market. There are a ton of these to choose from. Typically the cost anything between £7-30. The average cost for a good one is about £20-25.

Over time many people buy and gather up a set of basic tools. They use those for general home repairs and projects. We also gather up tools for the car, and even some for the garden. It is surprising just how many of these we can quickly collect.

You can be surprised at how much they all cost, when you start to add up the individual bits and pieces. Buying a good quality tool box that you can lock is then simply a good idea. Aside from that, it is always handy to have all your tools in one place.

Then there are people like me, who just like having a tool box or two.

If you are in a hurry just go straight to STANLEY Deep Toolbox Storage as we found this to be the best all round value across all the tool boxes we reviewed.

Tool Box Buying Guide

As you can see these tool boxes come in a whole range of sizes. The most popular are 16" and 20". The size that you buy will really come down to how many tools you have, what size they are and what you are going to use them for.

Most people will eventually end up owning a few of these. For myself, I simply want a box to hold all the bits and pieces of tools, that are otherwise left sitting around. If that is the case for you too, then a simple plastic tool box, with a couple of latches, will do the job nicely.

I would recommend getting one that can be locked. Even a small amount of tools can quickly add up to a considerable cost. To avoid them getting stole, it is worth sticking a padlock on the box. Now I know a thief may then take the whole box, but that is heavy and hard enough to carry. Pinching a cordless drill is a lot easier if it is sitting out on its own.

Plastic or Metal

You can get metal, usually galvanised, or a tough type of plastic. The metal type are normally used by those working on building sites, as they will last longer. Most people will simply need a solid plastic box, though I would recommend the metal latches, simply because they last longer.

Ideas for Tool Box Storage

Many homes can do nicely with just one tool box. It does of course depend on how many tools, and other bits and pieces, you happen to have. I know that over the years, I have gathered up a lot of tools, and certainly a lot of other tool accessories.

These include things like different sizes of nails, screws, wall plugs etc. I eventually ended up buying a tool box just to hold those. That can save you a lot of time, when you are looking for a nail or screw to do a simple job, like hanging up a picture.

I also have what I call me "electric tool box." In there I keep fuses, electrical screwdrivers, a bulb tester, a fuse tester and a few electrical screwdrivers. There are also pliers and cutters in there along with a few electrical connectors.

Then I have another tool box for my drill, along with all of my drill bits, and other drill accessories such as wire discs, sanding attachments, wire brushes etc.

The bottom line is the better you can stay organised, then the easier you make your life, especially when it comes to doing jobs around the home and garden.
