Why we like the Wolfwise Ladder the Best

Telescopic Ladder Buying Guide

Below we have included a useful and helpful buyer's guide. Most readers will be familiar with a typical ladder or extending ladder. A telescopic ladder is different as it uses certain technology to extend and lock to a user's desired height.

Most good quality telescopic ladders can be adjusted a "one foot distance" at a time. It is this design that allows you to set the ladder to the perfect height.

Most good quality versions of these will adjust down to about a quarter of their overall height when it comes to storing them.

Key Benefits of Owning a Telescopic Ladder

  1. Versatile - The key benefit of that is that is really does make them a more versatile option for using around the home and garden.
  2. Storage - They also fold down to a fairly compact size and makes them a great deal easier to to store in a cupboard, a shed or garage.
  3. Transport - As they fold so well, it makes them really useful if you need to move them around. That is why many trades and professionals prefer telescopic ladders. Those with smaller vans will prefer them.
  4. Height Adjustment - One of the most important benefits is the ability to set these to the exact height that you need. We use ladders for a whole range of tasks from changing a light bulb to painting walls in our home.

This is a British Standard known as BS EN 131 That is the UK’s version of the International EN 131 standard. It covers all types of portable ladders (step, extending and combination).

All ladders should now be designed and manufactured to the current EN 131 standard only.

This CE standard states the product shows that the manufacturer has checked that these products meet EU safety, health or environmental requirements.

Frequently asked Questions

Are telescopic ladders any good?

Yes they are very useful and they work really well. However, a word of caution is needed. Avoid at all costs cheap telescopic ladders. If the price sounds too good to be true, then there is always a reason for that.

You will be up those ladders and they have to be safe. The rungs need to be the right size, the locking mechanism has to be secure and you need a very good tread and grip. Cheap ladders will not have all of these important safety features.

What is the highest telescopic ladder ?

The highest ladder we could find for sale at the present time went up to 6.2m, which is just over 20ft.

This is a quite a height and i think i might just prefer to go for a traditional ladder if i needed to get up this high!

Which ladder is best for home use?

As always it depends on what exactly you are going to use the ladder for. At home, I expect you will just need something high enough that will reach your ceiling and that would be around 2.2m. You may also use it outdoors, so i expect 3.5m to 4m wouls be fine.

If you dont have much storage space then these telescopic ladders are ideal. As you can see above, we would recomment that the best ladder fo home use is the Wolfwise 3.8m model.

Do you have to oil Telescopic ladders?

The proper answer to this is no, you don't put oil or grease on these ladders as it just catches dirt and can cause them to stick.

If you are having some problems with the ladders sticking then the best thing to do is clean them as best you can with a dry cloth and use silicone spray polish on them. This will help to keep them moving freely.
