Tip 1 - Accessories
Have a think on what you are going to use this tool for and make sure you buy the correct accessories from the start. Some of the models come with a selection, which is great, but the higher end models are just a bare tool so you will need to get know what you want.
I would advise that you start with a range of cutting and sanding types, then see how you go. You will be surprised at how often you will turn to this tool and keep in mind there are around 60 different attachments available for most of these multi tools.
Tip 2 - Corded or Battery
I am very tempted to tell you to always go for the battery type model. Usually you are in a tight area and the cord tends to get in the way, or if you are a tradesman you will know that the battery types are much handier if you are out on a job.
Home owers or DIYers might be as happy with the corded versions if thay are just using them around the house and have easy access to sockets and extension leads though I have come to hate that trailing cord when I am doing an awkward job.
Tip 3 - Price
These tools range from £30 up to around £150 and obviously there will be a reason for that. It just depends what type of job you are doing and how often you will need to use it.
