Usually you won't need anything more powerful than this, thay have an excellent running time and at under £60 they are really good value. These heavier duty batteries have great power and performance but that's not really necessary for most hand tools like drills or jigsaws etc. I wouldn't be spending the extra money needed for this level of battery unless you are going to be away from a power source for long periods of time or if you are running some of the really heavy duty tools in the range.

This is probably all you will need in a 12v tool battery. I guess if you wanted anything stronger then you would be moving up to 18v tools. It compares well in performance to the 4ah battery below and I think it's much better value
