Detailed Review of the DCD771

For those of you who like more detail then please read on as we cover off what we believe to be the most important features in your buying decision.

Price & Value for Money

Let's face it no Dewalt product is cheap but almost all of them are of very high quality. Buying a drill is like buying anything else really in that you get what you pay for.

If you have read any other of my reviews you will know I am a huge fan of this brand and they have been producing and delivering quality tools for years.

This model is as good if not better than many of their products. We did get a chance to try this out and it simply feels good in your hand.

You know instantly that this is a little power house and not one of those flimsy products. The power you get is as good as anything out there.

Now we know it has an average price of around £150 and that is not cheap, but when we consider the quality of this product then you are getting a very good tool that will last you for many years to come.

The Battery

The 18V battery is still the most popular choice but most manufacturers are now improving that and going with the 20V option. In simple terms this just means that battery has slightly more power and will hold the charge for longer.

The DCD771 model has gone with the more powerful battery. The battery pack is actually smaller than the older versions but packs quite a punch.

The good news is you get two batteries. That means you can work on your projects with one of them and have the other one on charge whenever you need to use it. As the battery only takes about 30 minutes to charge you should never have to wait that long.

Lighting

There is a small LED light located just above the trigger and his helps illuminate any work area where you may be drilling or driving. It is a neat little feature and helps a lot.

Compact & Lightweight

We think it is great that you can have a drill that is not too heavy but still packs a punch. It is one of the best features about this particular model. Here is what one reviewer said:

What a workhorse! As a man who swears by DeWALT and has owned several battery variations of their drills, this one is quickly becoming my favorite. Extremely lightweight in comparison to the 18 volt models. The battery size is tiny but packs a huge punch.

Very Useful for Home Projects

If you do much work in and around the home, then this drill will be the only one that you will ever need. Now this is not a high end contractor drill, but is probably the very best for DIY people and for people who do a lot of home projects.

It is powerful, yet compact for restricted work areas (like under a sink) and with two batteries, a charger and a carrying bag, it does make a nice little kit.

The Dewalt Brand

The Dewalt brand is a hugely popular brand with the trade professionals. If you look on any construction or building site in the UK, you will find it littered with Dewalt branded tools of all kinds.

Dewalt make the full range of power tools including drills, rotary and demolition hammers, nailers, sanders, saws grinders and many more. They have a very distinct black and yellow coloured brand.

The name itself comes from its founder Raymond E Dewalt and started back in 1922.

In the UK they sell through retailers that include Screwfix, RS Components, Travis Perkins and their own Dewalt Premier Centre.
