It is powered by a 1.25 HP motor and has a variable speed range of between 16,000-27,000 revolutions per minute (RPM)
In my opinion this is an excellent choice for a beginner, or for someone who wants to own a kit rather than buying two separate routers.
It has a number of really useful features including a soft start, led lighting for the work space, easy to use depth adjustments, and the two routers are easy to swap over, using the same base.
There are plenty of people buying this combination router set. Those who have bought it, and taken the time to leave a review, have given this model an overall buyer satisfaction rate of 94%.

Only 1 in every 100 buyers were disappointed with their purchase.Those buyers said their problem was that this router struggled with continuous use, and on bigger jobs.
It is actually a fair point as at 1.25 HP, this size of motor is simply not powerful to work continuously, or to take on heavy duty routing tasks.
This is not a high powered router set, but it is certainly good enough for most woodworking tasks, and I believe if you are deciding what your first router should be, then this makes a very good choice.
You will have to look really hard to find a better buyer rating than the on this model gets. Add into that, the price is affordable for a router kit, and of course then there is also the high quality and support service of the Dewalt brand.

Without doubt, this is one of the best routers on the market today and is literally about two steps ahead on the nearest competition. That being said, unless you are a professional tradesman, I see very little point in splashing out on something so expensive.
It is a superb quality unit and there's little doubt that it can do any routing job that you will ever need, as well as lasting a lifetime.
As routers go, there is nothing much better on the market.
