Best Metal Cutting Saw Reviews

Thanks for taking your time to read our reviews on the best metal cutting saws that are currently available on the United Kingdom marketplace.

For the vast majority of home owners, when they need to cut metal, they will use either a hacksaw or a smaller junior hacksaw. Those will do the job well, but like any manual tool, you will be required to do the actual sawing.

There are electric metal cutting machines available on the UK market. These are used by metal workers, professionals and in places like scrap yards. Electricians will also make use of these for cutting conduit, trunking and trays.

A home owner would only really consider one of these if they had a requirement to cut a lot of metal.

Just below you will see our top 5 list of metal cutting saws. However, we also know you are busy, so if you don't have time to read our full review, we would highly recommend the Makita DCS552Z Metal Cutting Saw.

Metal Cutting Saw Buying Tips

  1. All of the saws on our list are good options and from well known brands
  2. We think the viewing window is really important when you have to use one of these on the job
  3. We prefer metal bases as they will just last a great deal longer, more expensive initially, but will pay dividends in the longer term
  4. The standard features you would expect are all present on these models apart from a soft start on the last one. Its actually makes it a lot harder to use
  5. We found the cheapest to be the best and that is based on value, as well as performance. The Dewalt XR is easily my favorite and that's what i would personally choose

Power Source

It's important to know what type of power source suits your needs best . As a rule there are three types of power sources available to run the saw so at least you have a few different options.

Gas Powered runs the motor powerfully and cuts various metals effectively. These are built for heavy duty engineering type work and they are expensive, noisy but are extremely powerful.

Corded electric powered are the most popular as they are lightweight and easy to maneuver around, just be careful you don't cut the cord !

Cordless battery powered models are becoming more and more popular and they work off a rechargeable battery. They work well for light duty tasks but this type of saw needs a lot of power so they wouldn't be my number one choice.
