This is one of the the most powerful of the cordless impact drivers and it's a beast of a machine. It is a 1/2 drive that puts out a massive 1600Nm, which is easily one of the the most powerful machine we have reviewed. This is not for the faint hearted and will only really be needed by the most serious of professionals.
This is a great impact wrench with a 1/2 square driving shank and really high tightening torque. We call it a little beast of a tool. It has a a brushless motor for efficiency and will greatly increase the life time of the tool. There are many different batteries available so if you arent sure what you need then have a look at our Best Dewalt Battery page.

What Buyers Say about the Dewalt DCF899b Impact Wrench
Pros
Cons
Power, power and more power. All the buyers thought this was a very powerful impact wrench that had not problem doing any job, particularly awkward wheel nuts. As an alternative to an air power tool it is excellent in every way and much more portable.
It would need to be good at this price but if you need a cordless impact wrench for regular use then you won't find a better one than this.

Key Features
Power
It can deliver up to 1,800 rpm and 2,200 ipm. It truly has nut busting torque, and this wrench can loosen a bolt tightened to a torque of 1,600 Nm. This is a massive amount of power and should really be enough for any job.
This is truly enough power for anyone and one customer gave me a laugh in his review by saying ". I also received a letter from Thor himself asking if I would swap it for his hammer"
Electronic 3 Stage Impact Power Selection
These are classed as hard, medium and soft and what we like is the complete control this gives you with the choice of driving power. This lets you control exactly what amount of power you send to the variable speed trigger.
I expect most will use it on the middle setting and move it up or down as required.
Brushless Motor
The brushless motor gets rid of carbon brushes, and allows the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for a longer life. It is also electronically controlled to optimise battery energy and use up to 50% longer run time per charge.
Most people will tell you that brushless is much better than using carbon brushes. The tool functions much smoother and feels better, as well as the battery and tool overall life being improved.
A very quick video review
We have looked over all the video reviews and found this great short presentation on this Dewalt power tool. It gives you an instant idea of what to expect as well as telling you all the features and spec in and easy to understand format.
I hope you enjoy watching it as I always think its much better to see a tool in action rather than just reading about it or seeing pictures. This guy is particularly good at explaining the features of the impact wrench and he is well known for demonstrating Dewalt tools.
The Dewalt Brand
The Dewalt brand is a hugely popular brand with the trade professionals. If you look on any construction or building site in the UK, you will find it littered with Dewalt branded tools of all kinds.
Dewalt make the full range of power tools including drills, rotary and demolition hammers, nailers, sanders, saws grinders and many more. They have a very distinct black and yellow coloured brand.
The name itself comes from its founder Raymond E Dewalt and started back in 1922.
In the UK they sell through retailers that include Screwfix, RS Components, Travis Perkins and their own Dewalt Premier Centre.
Our Verdict on the Dewalt Impact Wrench
This is a great choice for removing wheel nuts and we have yet to come across one, where it has not been able to move it.
Not everyone has air tool options and this is about as close as you can get. Really, I think air tools are being surpassed by the quality of these battery models. It won't be long before they are a thing of the past.
For me, this is the ultimate in a high powered impact wrench. If you do a lot of heavy work and want the best, then look no further.
Thanks for reading our article. If you are not sure this is the model for you then check out our Best Impact wrench UK for more options. We also have a full section on just Makita Impact Drivers if that is of interest to you. I have a Makita magnetic bit holder that I use when I am putting in a lot of screws and I can't recommend this type of accessory highly enough. Everybody should have one of these tools. Just makes any job so much easier.
