Power Washer Buying Guide
There are three main ways to measure the power of a pressure washer:
1. The pressure the water will be pushed out at, measured in Bar
2. The rate of water flow, measured in litres per hour
3. The power of the pressure washer, measured in watts (W) if electric or Horsepower (Hp) if petrol
It's important to get a balance bewteen the water pressure (the higher the pressure, the more powerful the washer) and the water flow. Look for a pressure washer, which has the best combination of the two and weigh that up with what youa re going to use it for. You need to think about what you will be cleaning, how often that you will be doing it and how much dirt you need to shift. Both of these factors are important as the pressure is reflected in the cleaning, and the flow is reflected in the rinsing
The higher the pressure is, then the easier it will be to remove stubborn dirt and and areas that havent been cleaned for a long time – such as paving and concrete. The water flow rate is more important when you are rinsing off. So, if you’re cleaning a car for instance then a higher water flow rate will work a lot better.
Do you Need Petrol or Electric
Most power washers sold these days are electric powered as they work well for light to medium tasks like cars, driveways and paths etc. They are plug and go and really, they are up to most jobs around the house or workshop.
They are ready to go immeadiately if you have a power supply and with a good extension lead, you can reach most places.
Petrol washers are a lot less common but are really valuable if you need to use your washer away from home or if you have a lot of heavy duty work to do. You’re not tied to a power supply so if you are working in a remote area then you can still get the job done without access to power.

Motor types
