For a long time I thought Karcher was an overpriced brand and you could easily get something that was better value. That is not so much the case nowadays! This latest model pretty much has everything you need at a reasonable price. The construction is excellent quality and it's totally cutting edge for ease of use and functionality. Really they have got it sussed now and it's very hard for me to look any forther than this K4 model.

Bosch 06008A7F70 EasyAquatak 110 High Pressure Washer

92% buyer satisfaction from over 8,000+ customer reviews

What a bargain for a quality brand product that works very well.

It measures 37.5 x 20 x 40 cm and it puts out up to 120 bar, so its very powerful for such a small machine. Only 3.8 Kg

This is  a compact and highly portable washer that comes with a 3m hose. I would have liked that a bit longer.

The simple push fit connections set up quickly and are easy set up.

Includes variable power and rotary nozzles for deeper cleaning.

The nozzle also can apply the soap, which is pretty handy.

A pocket rocket at a bargain price. This Bosch model compares pretty well for power to the top rated Karcher K4 above and though it might not be as fancy, it will certainly do the job. It's priced as an entry level model and that's exactly what it is. Nothing fancy but works really well and is a bargain price. If its something you will just use, maybe once a week, then this is very very hard to beat. It is definitely the best value power washer by a long way.

Kärcher K 2 Power Control Home high-pressure washer

The K2 compares well to the K4, has slightly less power and a 5m hose instead of an 8m one

It measures 246 x 280 x 586 mm and power goes from 20-110 bar

It comes with a round brush surface cleaner that removes dirt from large surfaces such as terraces and paths. This works really well and is a great accessory to have.

Can be used universally on hard as well as sensitive surfaces due to adjustable nozzle spacing.

Again it comes with 2 years Guarantee

Power Washer Buying Guide

There are three main ways to measure the power of a pressure washer:

1. The pressure the water will be pushed out at, measured in Bar

2. The rate of water flow, measured in litres per hour

3. The power of the pressure washer, measured in watts (W) if electric or Horsepower (Hp) if petrol

It's important to get a balance bewteen the water pressure (the higher the pressure, the more powerful the washer) and the water flow. Look for a pressure washer, which has the best combination of the two and weigh that up with what youa re going to use it for. You need to think about what you will be cleaning, how often that you will be doing it and how much dirt you need to shift. Both of these factors are important as the pressure is reflected in the cleaning, and the flow is reflected in the rinsing

The higher the pressure is, then the easier it will be to remove stubborn dirt and and areas that havent been cleaned for a long time – such as paving and concrete. The water flow rate is more important when you are rinsing off. So, if you’re cleaning a car for instance then a higher water flow rate will work a lot better.

Do you Need Petrol or Electric

Most power washers sold these days are electric powered as they work well for light to medium tasks like cars, driveways and paths etc. They are plug and go and really, they are up to most jobs around the house or workshop.

They are ready to go immeadiately if you have a power supply and with a good extension lead, you can reach most places.

Petrol washers are a lot less common but are really valuable if you need to use your washer away from home or if you have a lot of heavy duty work to do. You’re not tied to a power supply so if you are working in a remote area then you can still get the job done without access to power.

They tend to be more high-powered and aresuitable for some of the tougher jobs you might want to tackle.

Motor types

Pressure washers come in three different motor types. You wont really know the difference it affects the motors life span.

  • Brush motor – These have brushes and have been standard in most motors for many years. The brushes are in constant contact with the rotating part of the motor, which causes friction which reduces efficiency and causes increased wear & tear.
  • Universal motor - A simple motor which is compact and high speed but usually noisy and with a shorter life span.
  • Induction motor - A more complex motor which is brushless, quieter to run, and has a longer life span.

Hose length

The hose length is measured in metres and connects the main unit to the trigger gun. There are vast differences in what length comes as standard and I would advise getting at least a 5M hose.

Lances are very important and control the water flow and the power. Depending on the model, they can be used to increase or decrease the water pressure without increasing water usage. There is a huge difference in the quality of lances and the cheaper model washers can really let you down in this department.

Wash brushes

Specialist brushes for washing cars and bikes can help you get the best finish and make light work of hub caps, wheel arches and more.

Patio cleaners

Cleaning paving, concrete and paths can be very time consuming, but using a rotating patio brush can help to speed this up and make the job a bit easier.

This tool concentrates the power and water flow onto a small area to really deep clean, and can be easily manoeuvred as you clean, reducing the time taken and mess made.
